Elissa Wilcox- Northfork

One of the most interesting character's in the film was that of Cod. The silent angel who wrote many manuscripts. The interesting thing about it was that he wrote in a language that others could not understand, the "language of angels". He was symbolic of the God that many people believe in, a God that directs, but has no actual place in the lives of people. Cod wrote manuscripts for interpretation and based on that interpretation the other angels decided which action to take next. The character of Happy, was the only angel who interpreted the manuscripts and relayed what they said to the other angles, who in turn interpreted the words as they thought best. Flower was the main interpreter, and Cup of Tea seemed to be the one in charge, Flower would take over at key points and the others would follow. For example, when Irwin was trying to convince them that he was an angel, she finally took charge and told him to come back to prove himself, instead of waiting for Cup of Tea to make a decision.

The concept of God being one who gave his word (the Bible) and then decided to leave it up to human interpretation without any more interaction with him is something that many people believe. This is a way for people to interpret the Bible in a way that is significant to their lives and applicable, or a way for people to interpret it to mean whatever they want it to mean. How does one find truth if there is no one who cares enough to answer? If God really is just a silent observer, someone who does not interact with humanity on a personal level, but remain aloof, then what gives meaning to our lives? Also, this brings up matters of interpretation, how do we know that the way the Bible is interpreted is true?
