Joshua Booth - Paris Texas Clip

In the film Paris Texas by Vin Venders there are signs of hopelessness and emptiness which is what the desert is basically all about. The brother keeps looking like is he looking at something in the far off distance? There are patterns of power poles and while he is walking he is following the straight path of lines. These are signs of communication and connecting people. The mountains that are behind the brothers fit their personality. One has an odd shaped irregular mountain that is uncertain and seems as though it was shaped by some type of volcanic activity in the past and the other has a basic looking mountain. There are also light transitions and another connector when the brother is walking on the bridge that overlooks the major freeway. He is also walking the opposite of the way the cars are moving. When he is walking on the bridge he is only half way done when he reaches the man that is preaching something.
When he goes to the room where his former wife is the room behind her is complete but in front of her is incomplete and you can easily see the insulation. The images are used to overlap his face on her body. The idea of the mirror is that you can be there but not there. The color scheme also changed from yellow to black. It is said that, “It was easier talking to you when I was imaging you.” She said that she would listen to him. Later on in the conversation he sits down the phone and turns away. This is symbolic in that they have not been able to connect. Sometimes in marriage the other person is taken for granite and that is what happened to this couple. It is awkward that now since he is a paying customer she is willing to sit down and listen to him but that was probably not the case when they were previously together.
