Final Thoughts: Lindsay Conrad

I thought this class was incredibly interesting. I got to see a variety of movies I had never seen before, and a few I got to see in a new light. I think my favorite movie was North Fork. I haven't seen it before, but I really loved the adventure. As hard as it was to follow, I was touched by the story of forgiveness and the need to find a home. The boy's adventures while he was sick in bed seem to be so exciting, and I can only hope that as we all get old and sick that we can adventure in the same fashion the little boy did. Wouldn't it be a marvellous thing to feel an intense dream rather than the pains of death? I think we all have to face death sooner than we want to, but to see it as an adventure to be a part of God's heavenly hosts is a divine way to exit the world, and I think the little boy had it just right.
I really appreciated viewing videos in different ways and applying the concepts in the readings, but I also learned how to watch movies more critically. I usually work so hard to focus on the storyline that I miss the really cool effects that make the movie shine. A great example of this is Groundhog Day. There were so many different moments (the clocks all over the wall) things that maintained a sincere purpose in the movie that I never would have noticed if it weren't for this class. I think I was able to appreciate the effort that goes into movies more as well as the deeper meanings we can develop by watching the movies. Thanks for a great semester and a great way to end my college career!
