Joshua Booth- The Thin Red Line

The Thin Red Line was a war story about the United States at war during the Battle of Guadalcanal in WWII. The film starts out with drama because Pvt. Witt is AWOL. This is a serious issue in the military services and there really is no excuse for anyone to be AWOL. Pvt. Witt has taken the other road in life and is living with the people of the South Pacific. Although he does not want to serve in the military he is being held captive and his fellow soldiers contemplate on getting him free. The film is filled with bloodshed and death. During one of the battles Pvt. Witt gains his moral back and decides he wants to help his soldiers out in the battle. At the end of the film he shows his personal courage when he sacrifices his life by acting as a decoy. He was now made the ultimate sacrifice.
