Vincent Farino Alice in Wonderland

Alice and Wonderland is a prime example of longing used as an escape from the world. Alice knew she was different from her friends and she refused to subject herself to what was the "norm" in her community. She escaped her world and ended up in Wonderland where her longings to be different were met. I believe we can all relate to this escape aspect of longing because our lives can seem meaningless and mundane at times and we long for something different.
