Kevin Dessimoz - Decalogue

We watched two films from the Decalogue series. The first focused on "I am the Lord thy God; thou shalt have no other God but me," and the second was "Thou shalt not kill." In the first one, a father and son live their life based on computers and his father trusts calculations more than anything. On his computer, the father calculates that it will be safe for his son to skate on the local pond, which is frozen over. The calculations fail him and his son dies in the frozen pond. The message in this is that the man believes in the computer more than God, and the computer fails him.
The second film features a young man who decides to kill simply because he wants to. He takes a taxi driver out to the middle of nowhere and beats him with a rock. He is found guilty of murder and sentenced to be executed.
