Emily Walker: Dance Concert

Finally after working incredibly hard over the entire course of the semester the dance concert finally happened. The reason I chose to write about this is because I missed two of our classes for rehearsals. This dance concert is the product of a lot of work and a lot of big dreams. This is the first semester we were able to actually have a spring dance showcase in the rehearsal hall of the Ferguson Center. I’ve realized that dance is part of how I function spiritually. It allows me to release stress and to calm down. It makes me feel like I am fully myself. The dance concert was a mixture of different dance styles including ballet, contemporary, jazz, hip hop, and tap. All of the dancers worked incredibly hard and were very talented. My favorite piece that I was in was called Colorblind. It was supposed to be a piece that portrayed someone breaking away from the norm and discovering who they really are.
