Interpersonal Divide (Reading #5)
To continue with the same book, technology has made communication very accessible. We are able to get a hold of people whenever we need to. But with messages able to be sent really easily, we expect replies to come quickly. Unfortunately this does not happen. It is because of the quick travel of messages and replies not coming immediate that we lose touch with our biological clock. Bugeja states that “technology warps time, accelerating it, and place, transcending it” (70). We all fall victim to this idea. If you are trying to get in touch with someone and you see that the text, or whatever message, has the delivered sign next to it, you wonder why they have not responded and then wonder if they are avoiding you, or something along those lines.
