For my persuasion class I had to read the book Interpersonal Divide: The Search for Community in a Technological Age by Michael Bugeja. With the influx of technology into our everyday lives, humans are beginning to feel more and more displaced in society. The fact is, we could be right next to someone and still be using some sort of technology in order to communicate with them. The book is significant in that it states things that are going on in our lives that we may not pay attention to. The purpose is to open people’s eyes to what is going on around them in hopes that things may change back, slightly, to how they were before our lives became inundated with technology. Throughout the book, Bugeja is trying to answer the question, “Have media and technology eroded our sense of community?” (Back Cover).
