Joe Pascale - Misc Blog IV
Finding a job in the real world is damn frustrating. If anyone else is graduating this spring and is looking in the job market you know what I mean. The majority of jobs I have applied to require all sorts of experience for consideration (atleast 4 years in one case). The thing of it is, most all of these jobs are considered entry level jobs. How can you have 4 years experience for an entry level position? To me that makes no sense, and completely screws anyone coming directly out of college. I cant help but think that it is a result of companies not wanting to pay for training. Everyone wants to reduce the bottom line, cutting training cost is a way to do that, but how do you get new talent. The majority of people with experience applying for entry level jobs are people who have been laid off or fired and desperately need a job. These companies cant expect college graduates to get the experience when they cannot even get an entry level job.
