Joe Pascale - Reading Blog III
This blog is on a readings of political theorist, namely that of Aristotle's Politics and Plato's The Republic. The purpose of these two readings is the showing of the authors idea of how to create the perfect society. After reading not only Aristotle and Plato, but also Hobbes, Locke, Machiavelli and Marx, I have come to the conclusion that there will never be a perfect society. It just cant exist, life will not allow for a perfect utopia. But man will always seek a Utopian ideal and the answers to all of life's ills. I think this condition of man (the condition to seek out the why and how and then fix what they deem a problem) probably played a large role in the establishing of religions. Whether you look at indigenous religions, Buddhism, organized Abrahamic religions or any other religion, the basic purpose seems to be searching for answers and trying to understand what we cant understand. No other creature on the earth has an imagination and thought process to search for answers, and no other creature on earth has religion or follows a deity. So perhaps religion is just a product of a higher evolved brain.
