Since I finished all my other posts and still wanted ton comment on The JAcket, I figured a blog would do just fine! The movie was very interesting. I love how the gift of forseeing what is to come helped the guy in the jacket become a better person and work to fill another life with happiness instead of just help himself survive.
The movie was an interesting play on the need for trauma to understand what is truly important in life. Reflecting in my life, I have found that the most trivial things are wiped out and not considered when a big event occurs in my life and kind of knocks me off my feet. It also lets you know that the world is so much bigger than us.
I think he parallels to the story of Job, which I happen to be looking at with my youth kids. In Job, his faithfulness to God and persistence in prayer helped him understand that God was there with him through his suffering and always would be. The main character's relationship with the girl showed him that there were bigger concerns that his own selfish interest as he grew to love her. Overall, the movie was rather captivating and cause for some pretty great personal reflection time.
