Harry Potter - Eric Saxon
Like many of us, I have also read the Harry Potter book series. I believe that the Harry Potter series directly ties into myth, fantasy, and fairy, which we studied while viewing "Big Fish." Harry lived in a world full of witches and wizards. However, these witches and wizards could not reveal their identity to the general public for fear of exposure. Regular humans not possessing the power of magic, lived their lives without ever realizing that witches and wizards exist. In Harry's world, you have the good wizards and the evil wizards. This may be a stretch here, but I see a correlation between Lord Voldemort and the "Antichrist" in Christian theology. Like the bible states, the Antichrist will emerge, recruiting followers and attempting to take over the world until he is inevitably defeated by the forces of good. Like the Antichrist, Voldemort emerges, recruits followers, attempts to take over the world, and is finally defeated by Harry. Voldemort seemed to have a sort of seductive power over his followers, seducing them with the thought of extreme power. Do you guys agree with my comparison of Voldemort and the Antichrist, or do you believe that me attempting to compare the two was a stretch?
