In the past week, I found a Facebook group dedicated to the hatred of one of my good friends mom’s. Not only was it his mom, but it was one of my high school teachers as well. I found all this out from my friend who was very upset about the entire thing. She called me telling me to contact people and tell them to discourage joining and supporting the group. Immediately, I began to do as she told me to and contacted the creator of the group who is a student at my high school. I sent her a Facebook message telling her how rude her actions were and how much trouble she could get in if authoritative positions were to learn of her group. I’m going to notify the school board if she doesn’t delete the group within 48 hours.
I can’t believe people would go to such drastic measures to show how much they dislike a person. This group did more than just show the people who didn’t like her, but people left comments about chopping her with an axe. Are comments like this necessary just because you don’t like one of your high school teachers? While I didn’t like some of the teachers I have had over the years, I would never make it open to my classmates and teachers yet alone the World Wide Web that I didn’t like a teacher.
My mom is a teacher also and that has always been a very touchy subject to me. Nothing would make me more mad then people saying that anybody could be a teacher. There is a lot of stuff that goes on behind the scenes that students are never aware of. For as many hours as they work and as many things that they have to do outside of the classroom, the pay is nowhere near enough. Although I have had teachers who didn’t take their job as serious as others, I will always support teachers for everything they put into what they do to make their job successful.
