Decalouge - Joe Pascale
I have to save I found film One of Decalouge a very powerful one. The film was inspired by the biblical commandment, "thou shalt have no other Gods before me." In the film it was experienced by a professor who had placed more faith in science than he had in God. He used his computer simulation to determine if the ice on the pond near their home was frozen solid enough for his son to skate on. In the end, it wasn't. The ice broke and his son died in the icy waters. The film effectively used a number of visuals to portray the impending death. First the young boy stumbles upon a dead dog and has his first real encounter with death. At another point the professor spills his ink all over one of his papers. The blackness that spread across his "rational" writings shows that death was coming, perhaps as a warning, and in spite of his faith in science.
