Emily Walker: Christian Unity

Recently I have noticed a massive amount of discord amongst Christian denominations and congregations in America. This is so far from what the original Christian church was supposed to be. I believe that churches were designed to work together to serve and minister to people. Some churches these days have become so concerned with converting people that they forgot that Christ commanded the church to minister to the poor, sick, abused, and homeless. We spend so much time trying to update our churches with the greatest technology and resources that we forget that caring for people is the main point. I believe that the church is also meant to be a place where Christians can come together and grow and learn together. it should be a support system for struggling members and a safe place to share honesty. One issue that I see is that churches have become selfish. They spend time trying to be the bigger and better church, when really they need to learn to work together to minister to the community in the best possible way. I really hope that sometime soon churches will realize the original purpose they were intended for and begin to work together.
