Emily Walker: Rescue Squad

I have really enjoyed my time volunteering at the rescue squad in Smithfield, VA. I get to work with awesome people and help those in need. At first I just took the class to see if I could pass it but after I started volunteering I realized how much I love it. Part of it must be the adrenaline rush but part of it is because I genuinely enjoy helping people. I respect so many of the paramedics that I work with. They have seen and experienced so much in their jobs and they still are able to maintain a positive attitude towards their job. One thing I think about a lot in respect to being an EMT is when people try to play God. Am I trying to play God by helping people that are sick or going to die. Could I be messing up God’s plan for them to die on that day? How much can we interfere with God’s plan without us trying to take over His job. Does it make him mad when doctors and health care providers make sick and dying people better?
