Emily Walker Ground Hog Day

1. Ground Hog Day, was perhaps my favorite movie that we watched in this class. It really made me see that even the most humorous movies can have religious themes throughout them. I liked that the themes were not blatantly obvious but we really had to look to find them. I also liked that the theme went beyond the typical religious themes of good, evil, life, death, and angels. It introduced me to a concept that I had never thought about which is the concept of sacred vs. profane time. It also made me think about my life in relation to sacred time and how often I am living in the profane vs. the sacred. Life is too short to live in the profane and to spend our lives worrying about things like money and belongings. I am a firm believer that money does not equal happiness. I think that love, friendship, and experiences are what makes life special.
